    A grants programme for small groups, the awards are a grants program, which is supported by the Heritage Lottery funds, the Arts Council of England, Sports England, the New Opportunities Fund and the Community Fund. Operating through nine regional offices each region has a specific area it wishes to focus on.

    Website designed to help people wanting to become active in their communities and support and develop the work of local people who are involved in community activities. The fund managed by regional government gives small grants to community group organisers, funding is likely to come in the form of travel expenses. Training is also available for community organisers and is given with the view that their acquired skills are passed on to members of their communities.

    Neighbourhood renewal community chests are aimed at increasing and enhancing community activity in deprived areas. The grants focus particularly on the most deprived neighbourhoods and most marginalised groups.

    Charity Bank, the lead partner, is an organisation experienced in the provision of loan finance and we envisage that our investments will usually include some form of loan.

    It provides financial support to projects that bring together two or more public service bodies in an innovative way to improve services to local people or to reduce costs.   • Learning and Skills Council - http://www.lsc.gov.uk
    Responsible for funding training and skills acquisition through modern apprenticeships, courses and other means for over 16 year olds in England. The council operates through 47 local offices and a national office in Coventry.

  • National Youth Agency - http://www.nya.org.uk
    Runs the Local Network Fund for Children and Young People which funds local solutions to poverty and social exclusion affecting the 0-19 age group. Typical grants are £250-7,000.

  • Neighbourhood Learning Centres

    The Microsoft Grant Giving programme for non-profit organisation provides support in kind (software) and through corporate sponsorship of initiatives, particularly projects that improve access to technology for disadvantaged communities. Structural funds are the primary mechanism used by the EU to promote development and reduce inequalities between regions and social groups.     Recycled Computers and Other Equipment

  • There are currently 9 administrative regions in England and Wales, each with their own regional development agency and Government Office.
    In our experience the agencies have a number of initiatives relevant to Digital Inclusion which are not always widely publicised. It is therefore worth spending time checking out their activities.
