The 2006/07 National eWell-Being Awards

An Introduction to the eWell-Being Awards

The eWell-Being Awards are the UK’s only national awards to celebrate the social, economic and environmental benefits of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The aim is to identify and promote the most innovative uses of ICT by local authorities, businesses, third sector organisations and academic institutions.

For the 2006/07 Awards 130 entries were received across the six categories:

  • Age and Disability
  • Better Ways of Working
  • Building Social Networks
  • Climate Change and Environmental Efficiency
  • Digital Inclusion
  • Improving Public Services

There are also three Special Awards:

  • Environmental Product Innovation
  • Inclusion Through Partnership and Innovation
  • ICT Innovation in the Third Sector

The eWell-Being Awards Gala Dinner took place on the evening of Thursday 29th March 2007. The venue will be Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London, the birthplace of socially inclusive communications. This prestigious event will offer guests and VIP’s the opportunity to hear about the latest ‘state of the art’ sustainable ICT projects and celebrate outstanding examples of good practice from all over the UK.

The guest list comprised over 160 guests from Awards finalists through to senior representatives from central and regional government, manufacturers and suppliers.

To support the wide publicity outputs from this event t a 12-page supplement published in The Independent on the 2nd April showcased the winners and commended entries. Press coverage will also be sought in relevant trade and industry journals and the regional and local presses relevant to the winning and commended entries.
